Har ki Pauri, Haridwar

Observe Hindus perform their spiritual rituals at Har ki Pauri, on the banks of holy Ganges. See how thousands of devotees reach the end of their pilgrimage and bathe themselves in the purifying waters, a symbolic act meant to cleanse the soul. On this famous ghat (series of steps leading to the water), you can also find a large footprint on a stone wall believed to belong to the Lord Vishnu. Besides the mass bathing, many festivities (Kumbha Mela, Ardh Kumbh Mela, Vaisakhi) take place here on a regular basis.. • The ambience and environment of the place is very mesmerizing but at the same time, the place has become too much commercialized. People will harass you for aids, money. Lots of beggars who constantly keep following you around. The sanitation and hygiene of the place is also not kept in good condition. Ganges River itself is in quite poor condition and need quick and instant measures for cleaning.
  • Divine place for Hindus. The place is usually crowded during daytime. If you want some peaceful time then make sure to visit this place during nights. View of Ganges is also spectacular. Bathing experience in Ganges is also awesome because of the cold temperature of water even during the summers.

  • Evening Aarthi is a site to watch. Happens around 6.30. You need to go 1 hour before to find place. Walkable from Parking. Lot of temples nearby. Divine Ganges.
  • The place is awesome. The weekends could be very crowdy so it is recommended to visit early in the morning so as to have enough time for holy bath. You will find some good street foods and visit to Mansa Devi temple is also recommended.
