  • Firstly finding the place is a bit of a task due to unclear signboards. GPS is truly a blessing. At the gate you are charged an exorbitant 500 bucks for a car entry & Rs. 25/- per adult, we thought we...  read more »
  • Well, this was my first visit to Daroji Bear Sanctuary. I would share my experiences as under ¶ Entry fee per head is 50/- rupees for adults & 25/- rupees for childrens. Rs. 300/- for foreigners. ¶ Camera fees including video camera 1000/- rupees. ¶ Vehicle charges Government Department jeep: 200/- rupees Private jeep/car: 500/- (which was a pocket in my hole) Van/matador: 1000/- Bus: 1500/- rupees. Despite the Sanctuary run by Department of Forest, Government of Karnataka, to my surprise it charged even the government vehicles. The first official will give you a genuine receipt undersigned by forest range officer. After traveling for about 4km, you need to climb few steps where a suitable vantage point is created to have a glance at sloth bears. One should hear in mind that we have to maintain silence and avoid talking loudly, otherwise bears won't come out. It is said that there are around 160 bears in this vast forest area. Since bears appear far away on mountains, carrying binoculars is a great idea to have a close look at them. However, one binocular is provided by the forest department, which I think is insufficient. There are plenty of peacocks in the forest. Don't forget to carry water and some snacks to the place.. I was informed that there are many instances when visitors wait for hours on the vantage point to have a glance of bears and to their dismay they don't even get a chance to see one either. But in our case we got a chance to see a couple of them.
  • Super.Daroje bear sanctuary very good pleace in Karnataka
  • Expensive visitor fee(going with own vehicle), bear sighting from a watch tower which is very away. Dont forget to carry good binoculars.
