  • Tourists can visit the Elephant Camp or sanctuary that is located in Punnathur Kotta, at a distance of 3 km from the Guruvayur Temple. This Elephant Camp is one of its kinds in the world and is considered to be one of the largest elephant sanctuaries. The 10-acre camp was once the property of the Kings of Punnathur and houses some 60 elephants. In 1975, the present property was purchased by the temple authorities and the elephants were moved to the location from Sreevalsam, in a much-publicized procession. The fascinating feature is that all the elephants are offerings that are made by the devotees, at the temple.
  • Nice experience watching the elephants lazing around. The place could be better maintained though. If you're somewhere near Guruvayoor, it's a nice place to kill some time.
  • Such a lovely place to walk around with your kids and family. Fully surrounded by elephants of different looks and character. Had a lot of fun in here with my family. Also, they have got ample space for parking.
  • A place filled with elephants - all sizes, shapes and colours. Good to spend a few hours here. The mammoths seem to be well taken care of. Nevertheless, they are still captive and chained - probably not how they would be in their natural habitats. There are nominal fees on parking and entry. Also, light snacks are available here.
  • The place is home for around 50 elephants that are used for god Guruvayoorappan procession. Surrounded by lush greenery and lovely environment.
