A World Heritage Site, Basilica of Bom Jesus serves as the final resting place for widely revered Saint Francis Xavier. Consecrated in 1605, the church and its grand mausoleum housing the canonized Roman Catholic missionary are considered a landmark in Christian architecture. As you approach India's first minor basilica you will be struck by the simplicity of its Jesuit Baroque architecture, looming over the historic streets of Old Goa. Inside, an ornate gilded altarpiece greats you with a warm glow, to the right of which the mortal body of the saint lies, enshrined in the church since 1622. This is a well built Church in North Goa, worth a visit when you are in the town. Avoid guides here, ours was a wastage of money :(

Beautiful sacred place to visit. This place is one of the UNESCO world heritage site which has a great importance because of its historical story. This is one of the oldest church. It's story is very interesting. Do read the story before going to the place. Timings are 8.30 am to 5 pm. You can visit here without any entry fee and see the beautiful architecture and beauty of this place. Please don't take pictures inside the church as it holds sacred and historical importance. You can take pictures outside the church and enjoy the view.

Do not go if you are looking for a spiritual experience. This place has a good architecture but it’s too crowded due to over tourism and you will not get a good prayer experience. For prayers and other rituals, they keep the tourists away. If you are a tourist and want to pray peacefully at your own convenience this place is not for you. Can include in the itinerary if you are near old Goa. Prefer weekdays for better experience.

Wonderful experience! The lush gardens, the well kept museums and the cultural pieces there were a great experience overall. I especially recommend that people visit the Archelogical Survey of India's museum in the premises of the basilica, it has a large and diverse collection of items from Goa's Indian and Portuguese heritage. Alas, the basilica was closed for visitation when I visited the place; it was undergoing a month long renovation and restoration effort. But the museums and accompanying cathedral were worth the walk.

It's an old church situated in old Goa, which is well known for Mummy church of St.Francis Xavier. You're not allowed to keep, cameras or take videos and photos inside the church. The mummy of Saint will be visible only at the time of feast of Saint. You can give pray request in church. There's is an art gallery which we can visit by paying fees. It was so peaceful experience sitting outside the. church

One of the must visit, popular churches in Goa & India. This is also one of the UNESCO world heritage site. It’s famous for housing the tomb of St. Francis Xavier. Every Goan takes pride in taking about him, he is also known as lord of Goa. So, you can’t expect to miss the visit. The interesting fact is the body is still exists even almost after 150+ years of his death. Heard many great stories of his vision, spreading Christianity through good work and impact he created. Public viewing is done once in 10-years. If you’re struggling or fighting for something in life, they say pray to the lord here. And you will be blessed with healing. Church is open majorly from 9 AM - 6:30 PM. Sunday mass is at 8 AM, 9:15 AM. Enjoy the church. This is one of the historical and also, must visit churches in Goa and India.
