Visit a holy place high up in the mountains at Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple, built to honor a 27-year-old soldier who died while posted close to the Sino-Indian border. Singh's death in 1968 has remained the subject of myth and spiritual belief: the official version suggests that he was killed during a skirmish on a mountain pass between Tibet and Sikkim, but others state that he perished in a glacier. Legend has it that he visited one of his colleagues in a dream and asked him to build a shrine here in his memory. The shrine has become a moving tribute and a place of pilgrimage, particularly for service personnel.
