Dwarkadhish Temple, Dwarka

#1 of 17 in Things to do in Dwarka
Admire the contemplative atmosphere and ceremonial design of Dwarkadhish Temple, an interesting and prominent Hindu place of worship. Tradition has it that Krishna's grandson built the temple, while archeologists have dated the main shrine as far back as 2,000 to 2,200 years ago. Greatly expanded in the ornamental Chalukya style in the 15th or 16th century CE, the temple features five stories and rests on 72 tall pillars. The 78.3 m (256.9 ft) spire dominates the surrounding urban area, and photographs particularly well from the main street of the adjoining market. • Mesmerizing. There's a unique energy here (be it a walk to the temple or the temple itself) Visit, bask in the Divine glory. Heads up - do not wear shorts, remember to deposit the mobiles/cameras and any remote controlled keys (car or room) as those aren't allowed inside. The road to the temple is a short walk and cars can't go in.) I'd suggest walking. The temple in itself is powerful. As for the Lord inside, I am not worthy to review. Experience it all yourself.
  • Ever enchanting beauty. Visited multiple times during stay from morning 6.30 am to 9.15 pm. Decorations wonderful. Everyone feel Krishna as their own child and show their love and affection.
  • Easy entries in temple. Best thing is no pandas to disturbed. Digital locker to keep your mobiles, car keys etc. It is suggested to go temple by auto rickshaw as there is no parking place available.
  • Everyone will tell you it's an amazing temple, which is true. But i ll tell you something which is very important for your ease of travel. **Mobile phone** or any electric device(electronic car key) is not allowed inside the temple. There are two types of locker provided for the same. Type 1 is free of charge and is manual locker and type 2 is digital locker which cost 20₹ for 2 hours and you can charge your phone as well inside it (though my phone didn't charge inside the digital locker). **Shoe rack** is provided and is free of charge. You have to collect all your shoes (if you traveling with family or as a couple) and dump it into a sack or bag and then give the bag at the counter and they will provide you with a coupon number. **Car parking** The roads towards the temple are very narrow, if you are driving with your own vehicle ,best to park the vehicle at your hotel and get a Rickshaw to the temple. If found helpful please like. Thank you..
  • Must go to temple for Krishna devotees. This temple is very popular and therefore there is always a large crowd. Wheelchairs are available, however, the pathways are rough stone so difficult to negotiate. There are a good amount of quality hotels nearby. Recommend 2nights stay.
