Tapkeshwar Temple, Dehradun
Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Set in a natural cave tucked away in a forest, Tapkeshwar Temple represents one of the oldest and most famous temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The small temple lies beside a picturesque river, and draws scores of visitors to its rustic charm. Witness water constantly dripping over the two naturally formed shivalingas (aniconic representations of the deity) from the cave ceiling above. Note that you'll need to descend a great many steps to this site, so less mobile travelers may have a hard time here. Our Dehradun tourist route planner makes visiting Tapkeshwar Temple and other Dehradun attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.
