Kanchenjunga Mountain, Darjeeling

Categories: Mountains, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web
Admire Kanchenjunga Mountain, the third-highest peak in the world and a focal point of the Himalayas. Straddling the border with Nepal, the mountain has an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft) and can be viewed from a number of locations across the local area, its snowy summit cutting into the sky. Note that permission to access the mountain from India remains nearly impossible. Serious mountain climbers traditionally approach the giant from the Nepalese side (this is for experts only--20 percent of those attempting to reach the peak have died trying). Make Kanchenjunga Mountain a centerpiece of your Darjeeling vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Darjeeling holiday planner.

  • Lucky to have seen the peak through our hotel and also at Tiger Hill point .. Was feeling emotional by just seeing its beauty.. Last time in 2004 the weather was foggy.. But this time.. Just Wow...
  • I have never seen anything like this. And never thought I would. It is a piece of heaven brought down to earth. I can spend hours just by looking at it.
  • It was an amazing experience. It was spectacular to see the mountains hugging the beautiful hills and it almost looked like a fort that was protecting these territories of awesomeness..
