Shivagange, Dabaspete

#1 of 6 in Things to do in Bangalore Rural District
Climb a sacred hilltop to get a fabulous panorama of Bengaluru Rural District area at Shivagange, an important Hindu pilgrimage spot. Looking like a shiva linga from one of the sides, the hill also has a spring, ganga, whose water is believed to be sacred. A sculpture of the sacred bull Nandi is carved into the hilltop and there are numerous images of Hindu gods along the trek to the top which you will start from a gopuram at the foot. Standing at 1,368 m (4,488 ft), the hilltop provides a number of observation decks to get spectacular views of the area. • A very good place for one day trip. Awesome experience. If you are planning for one day trip it is the best. But you have to start climbing early morning so that you can reach the top within 3 hours.if you reach the top within 9AM it's Awesome to enjoy the nature and fog. No need to carry heavy water bottles, you will find many stalls on the way to tip.Totally an Awesome place near Tumkur.
  • Shivagange is situated around 60 km from Bangalore and is a good place for trekking. Trekking is easy at the beginning because of handrails and steps, but become little difficult while going up. There are some snack shops on the way to top, but it's better to carry something to eat and drink. It will take almost 2 hours to reach the top from the temple.
  • Wonderful get away from Bangalore. You need to trek a lot to reach the top. The initial stretch is not so tough. But, the final stretch is very steep and is very difficult. The view from the top is totally worth the climb. There are many shops selling water and eateries all the way till the top. Be aware of monkeys. They are lot in number. Take care of your belongings.
  • This is the best place for one day trekking and you can enjoy with your friends. Better wear shoes. shops are available there but better carry some food and water. Many problem here is monkeys. They will stole your purse and bag so keep some stone or stick with you. No proper restrooms here. Share Auto also available here they will take you to railway station you need to pay RS.20 per head.
