Shivagange, Dabaspete

#18 of 131 in Nature in Karnataka
Climb a sacred hilltop to get a fabulous panorama of Bengaluru Rural District area at Shivagange, an important Hindu pilgrimage spot. Looking like a shiva linga from one of the sides, the hill also has a spring, ganga, whose water is believed to be sacred. A sculpture of the sacred bull Nandi is carved into the hilltop and there are numerous images of Hindu gods along the trek to the top which you will start from a gopuram at the foot. Standing at 1,368 m (4,488 ft), the hilltop provides a number of observation decks to get spectacular views of the area. • If you are a trek lover, you should visit this place. Trek level: Moderate / Easy 1. You can wear shoes for the trek: Your trek starts at the temple, many folks around will suggest you to leave the footwear at the trail, but shoes is allowed throughout the trek. 2. You will find lot of stalls on the way, to drink juices, buttermilk, fruits etc. 3. Lots of steps are involved, get a good shoes 4. car/ bike parking available. 5. Just 1 day trek, you will reach the peak in 1-2 hr depending on your speed. Enjoy the trek.
  • Best place to spend the weekend. The Temples are nice and they serve lunch. Trekking the hill to the top is very good.
  • Mysterious place and 2 get to see 2 miracle here .1.ling will reverse the process of ghee to butter. 2. Anthara gange according to your sanity you get water in your hand from pond. (Check your sanctity ) 3. Beautiful scenery and trekking . And it's a place for fitness freak. Sunrise and set will beautiful. Am sure You will wow .
  • This mount is meant for beginners in the trekking field. As the mountain sports numerous temples. Steps are provided for pilgrims. Steps are carved out throughout the path untill the peak and metal supports are provided. In between you can find numerous temples and for spirituals and religious people it's really a heaven. But on the way you can spot a lot of monkeys and they are troublesome. It's better to hide your backpacks, food items and water bottles as the monkeys do not shy away from stealing a thing or two from you. On my way to the peak, a monkey snatched away a purse from a woman and threw everything inside it😂 Carry a lot of water as it is tiresome to reach the peak. And if you forget don't worry as there are many shops along the way to the top selling fruits water drinks and everything. The nandi on the top is terrific and the view is just worth your awe. Do visit the temple in halfway of the trip and check if you can touch the water in a hole. It's said it fulfills your dreams.
  • Trek is pretty steep. As such distance is less, but it will drain your energy, since you will be constantly be climbing. Last part of the trek is to climb steep steps. As already mentioned, you will get lot of stalls on the way, locals have put it up. So no need to worry about resources running out. But the place is filled up with a lot of garbage everywhere.
