  • I frankly didn't think Chitradurga Fort was that big - until I went in. The tickets cost Rs 15/- for adults - free for kids. foreign Nationals would have to shell out Rs 200. Guide services are availa...  read more »
  • I had visited the Fort 4 years back and got an opportunity to visit again. This place never bores me. Reached the Fort around 12 PM. Hired a guide and started the tour. The guide explained each place ...  read more »
  • Hi all a HUGE facility, much to the climb (!), for hours up and down, even then, you have the feeling not to have seen much. 250Rs entrance fee for for owner nice prospects! Good shoes, enough wasser(!), courage to climb even elevation angle (on the rocks), slip-resistant, some condition. and again: in 2-3 hours we saw just the first highlights ;-) but impressive! • Brilliant historical place. Take a guide and save some time as you don't need to figure out the best route to cover all the points. Come early, just after sun rise as that's the best time.
  • Historical place. ...I liked a lott.....well built kothiraja
  • Awesome is all I've got to tell. It is a magnificient fort and is very old. The best part of it is the rock hill.
  • One of the best Forts of South India, Very Vast and breathtaking views from the fort. Calm and steady climbing can take you to most of the important points inside the fort within 2 to 3 hours, further climbing to the highest point and to cover all the watch towers around the fort can be done in 2 to 3 days ( as per the local guides), the option of having a professional guide for the fort tour will be definitely interesting, carry water(though available), sunglass, hat and a walking stick for the old, and ofcourse DSLR camera with you. Look out for aesthetic views, and you will enjoy.
  • Chitradurga Fort (also known as Kallina Kote or 'fort of stone') was constructed in early 14th century and was the headquarters of the heroic feudatory family of Nayakas. The fort is imposing and impressive, even from afar. The fort is fortified by seven circular walls, three of which are on the ground and four on the hill. It is said that this fort has a total of 19 main gates, 38 smaller entrances, 35 special entry points and 4 secret inlets. Keep atleast 6 - 8 hours spare as there is plenty to see here. The fort is open from 06:00AM and I suggest to start your visit at this time. Hiring the services of a guide is highly recommendation. They will demand Rs. 250 - 350 for a 3 hours guided tour, but it is well worth the money spent. Best time to visit the fort is between November and January. Entry fees of Rs.5 applicable. Stay at Mayura Yatrinivas which is located 200Metres from the Fort Entrance (rent Rs. 2000/night). Juma Masjid constructed by Tipu Sultan and the Chandravalli caves (also known as Ankali Math) are other attractions near the Fort. Location: 202KM North West of Bangalore.
