  • it is one of the largest expanded lake near sakrepattana bets time to visit this place is after the rainy season
  • The lake has less water currently but had very good background of the mountains. The road entrance/exit is quite narrow and is 4.5 kms from the main road. Ideal for 30-45 minutes time spend. No boatin...  more »

  • Place: This is a very less known place with a beautiful lake and surrounded by hills on three sides. In short, it is a good picnic place to visit around Chikmagalur in rainy season/winter. Access & location: It is around 20km from Chikmagalur and around 5km from Sakharayapatna. On the way to Kadur from Chikmagalur. Taking a private car/Cab/Auto is recommended. The road till Sakharayapatna is good but internal road ~5kms is not great. Season: The ideal time to visit is Just after/during rainy season so that there is lot of greenery and good water level. During winter the climate is a plus but water level is average. During summer, it is not recommended, only plus is that you can go down and walk around the water(as the level will be less) Things to do: It is ideal place to see the sunset (or) even sunrise with a small picnic plan with family and friends. You have to carry food and snacks as the options are very less. The place is scenic if you are fond of getting some pics :) esp the hill side greenery, lake and the access bridge photos can be stunning.
  • Surprisingly beautiful. There's very little I could tell to explain how beautiful this place is. Spent a whole evening in cold winter, watching the sun set behind the mountains surrounding the crystal clear ayyankere lake. Peaceful. This place is little less known to people and you hardly have any tourists around which only makes it more beautiful. While I was here with my friends, we had this whole place for ourself for the whole evening other than a few locals. A must visit if you're around Chikmagalur. Drive to it might be painful though.
  • Great lake beautiful place
  • Nice and messmerizing, lake surrounded by hills. rare view of a lake like this, amazing
  • This is a beautiful place. The hills provide a nice backdrop for the lake. In summer, the water level is low and you can go down in the reservoir and walk around the water. There's plenty of parking and picnic space on weekdays at least
