Learn about the art of meditation at Sri Ramakrishna Math, the chief temple of the Ramakrishna Order, a monastic organization for men in Mylapore. Founded by a 19th-century Bengali saint, this complex--whose name means universal temple--offers daily lectures and distributes books, magazines, and audio/video material. Completed in 2000 on the site of the original 1917 shrine, the temple features a mixture of Dravidian, Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, and Islamic architectural styles, and boasts an 18 m (60 ft) tall gateway tower. Enjoy the tranquility of a Mughal-style forecourt with wide lawns, broad walkways, and ornate parapets. • It is the Heart of the Chennai City. Vast space. Excellent place to meditate. Very Clean & Neat. One can easily spend min of 2 hours time. A Book shop is also attached, very good collection.
  • The Ramakrishna Mutt campus in RK Math Road is an absorbing positive place, with a beautiful and majestic main temple structure. Devotees / visitors can spend minutes in silence in the expansive meditation hall in the main temple. The campus also has the older temple, library/Audio/Video shop.
  • My complete peace of mind with extreme devotional feelings.
  • Though have crossed the Ramakrishna Math many times, but never have been inside. Today evening, had time and hence walked into the math. Very very nice, calm, quiet, and when i went in the bhajans were going on. really nice bhajans. Sad the speaker quality was not that good, it would have been really great had they put some good speakers. Also sad that could not witness the evening pooja or aarathi. May be soon find time to go and see the aarathi. Definitely worth a visit.
  • Covers a vast area. Peaceful place opt for meditating. There is a book shop run by the mutt. Kabalishwar temple close by is a must visit here.
