  • Next to VTI very good handicrafts in bronze and wood are seen in couple of shops. The shoe repair shop is a plus. Though the work is neat commitment to time was an issue in my experience. A once famous mall that used to be filled with customers has lost its glory after advent of other malls. Missing the "landmark" book shop. The the third phase ground floor with good marble flooring could be a good scatting rig ( both for rollers as well as ice (with some investment)).
  • Spencer was a great place to hang out in the early 1990 to 2000. It was the only Mall in Chennai. It had all the right shops. Then came city centre followed by EA and phoenix mall. Spencer died slowly. Now all that remains is few leather shops and cheap clothing stores. All the major shops moved out probably owing to frequent power issues and exorbitant rentals. Escalators are shutdown half the time. Down the lane it might be pulled down to make way for a bigger Cineplex, since Spencer is the only one without a multiplex.
  • The oldest shopping mall, now attracting less crowd, but good for relaxed shopping, most of the shops sell leather goods, clothes, mobile phones etc. Have a few eateries too. Overall good place to spend an evening with family. Parking is Good.
  • This place is more like a complex. It's not crowded at all as very few people visit Spencer Plaza. Very few good shops like health and glow etc are here. The rest are ordinary small stores. Ideal for inexpensive shopping. Spencer Plaza is not well maintained.
  • Good and economic. Few years back the only shopping mall at mount road. EA has beat now. But still you can get good stuff. Less crowded and adequate parking for car or bikes. Worth visit.
