Marina Beach, Chennai (Madras)

3.4
#1 of 73 in Outdoors in Tamil Nadu
Take a walk along Marina Beach, the world’s second longest natural urban beach. The sandy shore stretches for 13 km (8.1 mi), although strong undercurrents create conditions too dangerous for swimming. Browse the numerous shops and stalls that line the popular beach, have a picnic in the sand, or splash around in one of the two swimming pools. Strolling along the seaside promenade, you can admire an array of statues and monuments, many of which depict local leaders, writers, activists, and other significant people from the country’s past. • A vast & beautiful beach spanning the coastline of Chennai. The region around this beach is well maintained & beautified for its exquisite view. Attracting numerous people from the country & abroad alike, it is one of the most popular places amongst tourist maps of India. Though beautiful, but its exterior or surrounding places are not well maintained and needs to be taken care of by the authorities.
  • Enjoyed the ambience of the beach and was surprised at the higher waves seeing that we share the same ocean in my home country. I really appreciated the impact of the tsunami when I noticed the memorial of the tsunami victims. Prayed over their souls and was able to have a moment
  • It's a lively place in Chennai, where the residents often visit with their families. Lot of eatables and entertainment for the kids and elders are available. A nice long beach with ample parking facility. It's a great place to beat the summer heat and enjoy with your family
  • nice place for people good ones. cheerful & mind blowing area to visit in Chennai. wonderful place. we have food & bus facilities for the city. sunset is nice. police protection able area. but the lovers parade is the worst among the area, such a irritating thing to the visitors at the beach. tension free looks cool.
  • Amazing experience! The waves at Marina Beach are very powerful. you can swim and enjoy at the bank of this beach.. Trust me it will be a wonderful experience.
