Get a fabulous view of Chennai city and its beaches from Light House, a popular tower at the southern end of Marina Beach and city’s unmistakable landmark building. Standing 46 m (150 ft) tall, the red and white banded lighthouse has an elevator taking tourists to the observation deck on the top 11th floor. The original lighthouse was built here in 1795 and the present-day structure dates back to 1977, its fourth incarnation. The tower is attached to a three story circular harbor-control building housing a small lighthouse museum.   • This narrow multi-storey building is located on the beach, Marina, and serves as a beacon. Two years ago, it was opened for visitors. For a small fee you can go upstairs and enjoy a nice panoramic views of the sea, the beach and the city. This is probably the best lookout Chennai.
