The park is an extension of the grounds surrounding Raj Bhavan, formerly known as the 'Guindy Lodge', the official residence of the Governor of Tamil Nadu, India. It extends deep inside the governor's estate, enclosing beautiful forests, scrub lands, lakes and streams. The park has a role in both ex-situ and in-situ conservation and is home to 400 blackbucks, 2,000 spotted deers, 24 jackals, a wide variety of snakes, geckos, tortoises and over 130 species of birds, 14 species of mammals, over 60 species of butterflies and spiders each, a wealth of different invertebrates—grasshoppers, ants, termites, crabs, snails, slugs, scorpions, mites, earthworms, millipedes, and the like. These are free-ranging fauna and live with the minimal of interference from human beings. The only major management activity is protection as in any other in-situ conservation area. • This is nice place to spend time with family during weekends. Kids are really enjoying to play there and see the animals, birds, snakes and butterflies with lot of excitements. The park is well maintained by management. They can arrange more ticket counter at least weekends. Better to go with foods and snacks while going there as family.
  • Excellent place for kids. My son loves this place. Not so much the animals and birds, but the open spaces, slides and other entertainment for kids. We have been here more than 10 times. Try to go early, about 9:30 in the morning. Weather would be nice and place quiet work less people around
  • Best naturally available entertainer. This is 10 times better than any mall. Kids love this place
  • There are animals and birds to see and it is a nice place for kids to see. Also children's play area is there. Kids would enjoy a lot
  • Vast space for kids to enjoy... My daughter loves to spend time at the park. Birds and deer are interesting to watch... It would be good if they have battery operated cars for old people...
