Ashtalakshmi Temple, Chennai (Madras)

Located right on the sea coast, Ashtalakshmi Temple is a religious site boasting grandiose architectural style while offering a serene atmosphere whether you’re a worshiper or not. See the temple dedicated to Lakshmi, one of the most respected Hindu goddesses, and take some time to admire the multi colored shrines representing the goddesses’ forms, such as bravery, knowledge, courage, and the rest. Going inside and climbing the steep, narrow stairs might be a challenge for smaller children and elders, but you can get a fine view just standing in front of the building. • One of the oldest temple in Chennai. Excellent location for family trip. Very peaceful and breezy environment. For excellent environment should go before 9am or after 5pm to avoid the hot sun as it's too hot since I went on summer season. Cons: Small shops near by temple were bit costly and they used tell price based the person's look. Vehicle parking is not sufficient and not secured.
  • It was a temple dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi in her 8 Avatars called Ashta Lakshmi. The styling of the temple is also unique which is built over two stories. The passage from one floor to another is very narrow, it could be about 18 inches. Heavily built people may find it difficult to climb the stairs. The temple was built in the middle of 70s right at the sea shore and it was one of the tourist attraction.
  • Good ambience. But take care while gping upstairs as its narrow passage. View from top is awesome. Peace of mind.
  • Very nice temple with a view of the sea. The temple is small but deity is very beautifully built. Parking facility is available but limited. I could see cops hanging around during evening time for public safety. A lot of foreigners do come here. Only drawback is the narrow approaching road.
  • It's a good seashore temple , you can experience a good peace of mind inside temple , and best dharshanam of lakshmi Amma , it's a old temple with historical story , the entrance is not good because fisherman were their at entrance and they selling fishes , not near to temple but in between from road to temple
