  • It's a great place to visit in proximity of Chennai with family or friends or even alone. Worth spending half day going around the ZOO either in electric car or by bicycle. Lion and Deer Safari are also good as get to see the Lion or Lioness very close. Good number of wildlife animals, birds, snakes, crocodiles and more. I personally suggest taking a bicycle ride for who can ride and it's fun. Good number of rest rooms and drinking water facilities. I can't comment on food, as we carried out home cooked food which cannot be carried inside. Kids food boxes are allowed though. So, have heavy breakfast, roam around ZOO, get out and have your food. Good number of restaurants as well nearby ZOO. Weekends are heavily packed with public and first come first serve basis for electric cabs and cycles. Hope this helps to plan better. Happy Outing!! Kids would definitely love the place !!
  • Good place to spend time with family. You will be charged ₹50 for entrance , ₹100or₹150 for lion & deer and extra charges for camera. Inside the zoo you can go by walk or can use rented bicycle inside. Child basket available for kids. Pros: * Cycle available for rent to use inside park. * Good maintenance. * Large varieties of animals available. Cons: * External foods not allowed, inside snacks little costly. * I visited on Jan'18, tiger is missing. * For seeing lion and deer we have to get van ticket, if you want to see it you have to reach zoo little early (around 10~11) then only we can get tickets. Note: We are the first responsible to keep the zoo clean. So kindly use dustbin.
  • Good place to visit.. But you should be enough energetic to walk. More animals are there. Sure it will make children to get thrilled. After books it's natural.. I personally liked Bengal Tiger.... Enjoy. Possible go in public holidays along with crowd, by which even you may feel more like tour...
  • Established in the year 1985 by transfer from other part of the city and maintained by the forest department with upkeep and veterinary care with empirical addition has become a landmark. Sufficient restrooms but with charge commencing from Rs5. Entry fees 50 20 25 for adult children and camera/cellphone.Vehicles and safari at 100 and 50. Good food and tea available at tea corporation run by Government with appreciable service by staff. Instead of leaving plates and coffee tumbler if you inform and put it at designated place you will get Rs20 as prices include deposit for this. They inform while billing but we do not care. Worth visiting.Cycle pram also available for hire at very nominal rate ,with deposit of Rs,200.
  • Good clean tidy place. Huge in size and ensure to have lots of energy when visiting with little ones. Markings are quite difficult to find unlike Mysore zoo you will have to go to different places to cover all animals, size of the zoo is also a reason. Ice cream, snacks parlour are available. Cycles are rented out and it's highly recommend. Plan a full day trip and it cannot be completed in 4 hours.
