Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Maharaja's Palace, a graceful royal mansion, welcomes visitors who wish to stay overnight, or simply enjoy its surroundings. After his expulsion from Shimla (the British India summer capital) in 1891, the Maharaja of Patiala discovered the thick deodar forest hill of Chail, and used it as the site for his private summer escape. Enjoy quite walks through orchards, forests, and lawns, then find the badminton field, billiard tables, or children’s park for some more active fun. You can rent a log hut or cottage to sleep in royal suites with antique furniture, fireplaces, and ornate carpets lining the walls. The onsite restaurant serves local, traditional food.
