Cabo de Rama Fort, Canacona

3.9
The blackened stone walls of Cabo de Rama Fort reveal the long history behind the clifftop fortress. Now a tourist spot for nice views and a window to the past, the fort served as a strategic defensive outpost in pre-colonial and colonial times. The fort's western side offers sweeping views of the northern and southern coasts and nearby beaches, serving as a great spot to watch the sunset. See old cannons and wells, and explore the fort's hidden rooms. Don't miss one of the highlights, the lovely white church, frequently visited by devotees. You can guide yourself around the fort, but you'll find little signposted information. • This was a nice spot for photos. It was untouched and you could feel the history. Perfect sea views and free to visit.  more »
  • It is situated few kms from Palolem beach and not much of crowd. Has a excellent view of sea with some cannons still on the fort. Good for taking pictures and sight seeing.  more »
  • It's too far from the Happening Goa , a nice fort with a good view of sea from some locations on it . Totally undeveloped and with very less tourists.  more »

  • Awesome views from the top. If you love hiking and exploring, this is the place for it. The trail starts from the church (on your left when you face the church) Point #1 The descent down the hill for the rocky beach. Perfect picturesque location. If you can make your way through the beach rocks towards your left you will have another magnificent view of rocky and green hill slopes with lots of coconut trees Point #2 Climb back and walk along the wall of the fort to reach sunset point - another magnificent view from there. Mind you way though the tall grass though. Don't forget to carry your best camera!
  • The journey towards this fort is beautiful, going through the different picturesque villages in south Goa. It has a small entrance, people have done some graffiti there and you will see some old relics. Once you walk down, there is a small water pond and little bit ahead you get to see one of the most breath taking view. Clear sea in front of you and the horizon
  • Historical place with a great views, old trees, canons and much more. Rocky beach is the most beautiful part of this fort. This place is quiet and peaceful. Just don't go alone or else you will get some spooky feels at the fort.
  • Bit underrated and less maintained place yet worth a visit if you're travelling solo or in a couple and looking for a peaceful destination to visit in goa. Tip: Find a stairs going down to a secluded rocky shore down the fort. you can really have a good time there!
  • One of the very old forts in the town, it gives you one the best views from the top. The fort area is largely covered with thick vegetation but once you find your way through it to the walls, it’s magnificent. Not much history is mentioned there, no guide or self explanatory placards are available.

Where to stay in Goa

One of the more affordable regions for staying in India, Goa offers a good range of sleeping options, from budget to luxurious. Visitors looking for that feeling of home away from home can explore rental apartments, which offer more space than a hotel room and often come with fully equipped kitchens. Look for an apartment in Oxel or Siolim, peaceful villages with gated communities and a range of facilities. Beach houses and private villas offer an alternative for those with deeper pockets, while beach huts/shacks work well for budget-conscious travelers.
