Taragarh Fort, Bundi

3.8
imagine how royalty once lived at Taragarh Fort, a hidden gem that, although not restored, offers so much to see. You can visit the fort alone, but if you take a guide, you have a chance to go into the locked rooms like the Maharaja’s bedroom, where you can see amazing artworks. Explore the wonderfully painted rooms and their decorations, and admire the palace's striking architecture. Go outside and enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding nature. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes to traverse the slippery terrain. Arrange to visit Taragarh Fort and other attractions in Bundi using our Bundi trip planning tool .

  • Spectacular but am a bit too old to attempt the climb but try if you are young and fit but to see it above palace on the hillside.  more »
  • Visit the fort is earned, since we get to its magnificent portal of entry to the 2 elephants, after climbing from the lower town to the fortress, then once past the gate, to the fortress to the Palace itself... Views on the low, blue city, or almost that Jodhpur, while abandoned places, but who did not become to the ruins... Visit the terrace covered with murals inspired by Hinduism, almost intact, the interior garden... Attention to the swarms of bees: we had one - huge - at the top of the main entrance, that we have therefore avoided in order not to sting like the two employees of the fort which we have pointed out.

  • Fort has a lot of history behind it, maintenance is poor, whatever is left now makes you visualize the glorious past. Someone needs to come forward and preserve the remains for future generations.
  • It's very tough to climb the fort so make sure you have good shoes. The fort is still a tourist place but most of the fort architecture and construction are damaged and it's not properly mantained. You will see a beautiful view of Bundi City from the fort. There is no entry fee to visit and it's open from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm .10 to 11 am is the best time to visit and to take photos.
  • Had a great time exploring the fort. Quite overgrown but lots of wildlife and monkeys. Some lovely ghats and historical buildings Great views over city but be prepared for a hike! I'd recommend boots and bring plenty of water.
  • Reasonably well maintained, great artwork in various parts of the campus, plus it's peaceful with parking at the bottom end of the fort keeping the noise away. Great view of the town from the top. Prefer visiting in winters or early morning in summers as it gets ridiculously hot.
  • Bundi taragarh fort is very good place here u can feel very smoothe weather in rainy time n so many places around bundi city where u can explore everything for photography n also u can chillout there in forest also
