  • Jama Masjid of Bijapur is a mosque in the Indian state of Karnataka. It was built by Ali Adil Shah I (1558-1580) in the year 1578[1]after the victory over Vijaya Nagara at the Battle of Rakkasagi – Tangadagi in Talikoti in 1565. Also known as both Jamiya Masjid and Jumma Masjid, the mosque is one of the largest mosques in South India[citation needed]. It was built by Ali Adil Shah I (1558-1580) in the year 1578 after the victory over Vijaya Nagaraat the Battle of Rakkasagi – Tangadagi in Talikoti in 1565. Set in a perfect square of 1,16,300 sq. ft. 2250 to 2500 persons
