Gol Gumbaz, Bijapur

Ruin Architectural Building
Famous for its remarkable dimensions and acoustic features, Gol Gumbaz represents a monumental example of Indo-Islamic architectural style. The mausoleum shelters the remains of Muhammad Adil Shah--the 17th century ruler of Bijapur--along with his wives and daughters. Examine the edifice's massive, imposing dome, with a diameter of 38 m (124 ft). Inside, try to pass messages in the whispering gallery, where even the slightest of whispers echoes from side to side. Besides excellent sound engineering, the structure has a cooling system that keeps the ambience refreshingly chilled. • Good one time visit place. Climb up the steep steps and be amazed by the architecture marvel of such a big doom and it's echoing capacity. Outside park to spend some lazy time. Don't be bothered much by indecency of visitors.
  • Wonderful experience of visiting Gol Gumbaz.. Time consuming.. Heart patients, people with respiratory problems should not climb the Gumbaz.. Read the history before vising.. to avoid paying for the guides... Take tonga.. thats best to visit other forts near by.. reasonable prize.. Tonga ride is always fun..
  • Great monument to get a chance to see how gumbaz. So beautiful. Every person should visit this place nice for weekend. Perfect location. Silent Monument. But people have splitted at Corners so it is not looking so clean
  • Superb place, Every indian should see this place, especially the whispering gallery. To understand the beauty and the uniqueness of the whispering gallery, one should visit early morning around 6 a.m. when they open the main gates of Gol Gumbaz are open. Even Bose speakers and iphone speakers have to fall at the feet of this person who designed and constructed this building. Forget it is a mausoleum etc, just go and see it from the engineering point of view. Second largest unsupported dome in the world i believe.
