White Desert, Bhuj
Categories: Deserts, Nature & Parks
Explore the rich natural and cultural heritage of White Desert, a seasonal salt marsh that fills with water during the summer monsoons, but becomes accessible during winter. The expanse of white salt creates a striking visual impact, giving the area a lunar atmosphere. Popular culture contains scores of references to this otherworldly landscape, including several scenes in Salman Rushdie's "Midnight's Children," and many Indian films and songs. Established tent villages pop up during the tourist season, with locals running tours to the area's main sites (among them, flamingo breeding grounds), selling handicrafts, and offering a range of other cultural experiences. Amazing experience... The Rann utsav, Wonderful Location to Visit at India, Kutch Rann Utsav, Gujarat which starts every year of December onwards at Kutch, Gujarat & marks this celebration till Holi.
Breathtaking beauty of white desert. Main tourist attraction of Kutch. Visit actual desert in morning or evening, don't go at night as nothing would be visible. Night in white desert is famous for events happening in tent city not white desert itself.
