Prag Mahal Palace, Bhuj
(3.4/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Admire the fine masonry, Venetian arches, and rose-colored stone of Prag Mahal Palace, an Italian Gothic-style palace in the middle of Bhuj. Designed by a British colonel in the 1860s, the complex was commissioned by King Pragmalji. See if you can spot Indian architectural elements in this Victorian structure, then head toward the small Hindu temple in the yard behind the palace. Have a chat to one of the caretakers, who will be happy to assist with more information. Climb the 45 m (148 ft) tall bell tower with a clock to get sweeping views of the city. By using our Bhuj trip builder, you can arrange your visit to Prag Mahal Palace and other attractions in Bhuj.

  • A wonderful structure. The central room where hundreds of lamps would have been lit during old times is a treat. Palace is a good learning for history buffs.

  • The Prag Mahal and its walled premises have been badly damaged by the 2001 earthquake and time as well, but it's Neo-Gothic architecture still stands tall. The Mahal tour will barely take an hour, where one can see the interiors of the palace and see the grandeur of a king's life. There is a plethora of deteriorated stuffed animals and many photographs which provide an insight into the glory days of the Royal Family. The main hall is a sight not to be missed, while the other rooms are in a dilapidated conditions only a shadow of their past. There is also an adjoining Clock Tower, similar to the one at Churchgate in Mumbai. A good place to visit this, reminiscent of the rich history of this region.
  • Beautiful place.if you go in bhuj then definitely visit this place. And also aina mahal near by that.
  • Its really nice place,Gothic and classical kind of architectural designs. The people who want to study about historic places must visit.lots of birds and squirrel r there. Maintenance is poor need to maintain such historic palace.
  • This is a attractive mahal in the bhuj city... Outside it looks like a palace of a King... For getting inside anyone needs to buy entry ticket. There are old items of king inside the pragmahal... You should visit once you are visiting bhuj city...
