Inspirock Rating:
3.5/5 based on 240 reviews on the web
As an ancient and sacred site of Buddhism, Dhauli Giri Hills allegedly represents the spot where the Kalinga War was fought well over 2,000 years ago. When you visit, you can see one of the earliest Buddhist sculptures in the form of a rock-hewn elephant. Around the hill stand stupas, pillars, and chaityas, and at the very top, a dazzling white pagoda built in the 1970s. Try to visit early in the day to avoid the massive crowds that often gather at this site.
