Bhimashankar Temple, Bhimashankar

Visit one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines at Bhimashankar Temple, dedicated to one of the manifestations of Shiva. Located in a remote area at the source of a long river, the ancient temple dates back to around the 13th century CE, when the shrine was first mentioned in literature. Admire the artistry of the towering shikhara, built by influential statesman Nana Phadnavis during the 18th century. Learn about the story behind the Jyotirlinga shrines--each said to mark a site where Shiva appeared as a column of light--and explore the pleasant wilderness that surrounds the temple, now home to a nature reserve with hiking trails and bird-watching opportunities. The best time to visit is between August and February. Though any time of the year is good to visit Bhīmāshankar, it is better to avoid visiting it during summer. Similarly during monsoon, unless one likes trekking, it is better to avoid a visit. That leaves the best period to seven months between August and February. The best.

I went here in June. The temple is not that clean. It has bombay point which is source of attraction. The good thing is the 10 kms pathway while going towards Bhimashankar. Don't expect too much from d place. Its just fine.
