  • poor collection.....only bengali painters like jamini roy, abanindranath tagor & r.n.tagore's paintings are in display.........
  • I visited the Gallery to attend a retrospective of Smita Patil's films. The place is mesmerisingly calm and serene. The cafeteria food is decent. You can find a number of corners and spots to sit, read and relax. It has a library too. This place is a silent marker of the fact that you can find places to spend some peaceful time in this extremely noisy and congested city, if you really want to.
  • Very well organised museum. It is designed in such a way, that you won't miss anything. The guards will keep assisting you which way to go next. Museum has a fine collection of artworks- abstarct art, potrait, sculptures, wooden models and statues made from steel/ aluminium wires. When I had visited there an exhibition of artist Madhvi Parekh's reverse acrylic paintings had been going on. In one big room a colossal painting of the Last Supper painted by her was on display. A single seat was put to sit and see the painting. It was all silent around.I sat there and studied the enigmatic painting for a long time. It felt great. I was curious to see Raja Ravi Verma's paintings, but there was only one. This museum has comparatively smaller collection than in the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. In Delhi it took me 4 hours to tour the galleries, in Bangalore I finished all within 1 hour. Anyways, a great place to visit for art lovers.
  • Located in Vasanth Nagar, in a mansion surrounded by greenery; this is probably the best place in Bangalore to bring out the art lover in you. It has some of Raja Ravi Varma's most famous works. I absolutely loved the portraits section on the first floor and the sculptures in the gardens and lawns. Great place to spend a few hours on a rainy morning during the weekend.
  • I have been there for more than once and have to admit it's a wonderful addition to Bangalore. The gallery showcases artworks of outstanding artists including classic Raja Ravi Varma. Though names says Gallery of Modern art, modern art lovers may not find this place interesting. I'm more than impressed with its community reach and the events there and the patrons are kept informed by email regularly. The gallery itself is located in a calm setting that would thrill art lovers souls. I wait for new events and every time I go there I come home with a 'WOW' feeling! Cafeteria management sucks though!!
