  • A national park within Bangalore city limits! Not recommended on weekends and holidays as it gets crowded.
  • This place has a lot of butter flies, but the only problem is it too much walking and heat. Dont venture out in summers or sunny day. Better stick to the main zoo area only. But the flies are real goo...  read more »
  • This is probably the saddest and most unkept zoo in all of India. The enclosures are over crowded and not at all suitable for the animals there. Just to give you an example, the King Cobra which indiv...  read more »
  • Jungle Safari is the worth going here. Rest all is similar to any other zoo. There is a lot of crowd for the jungle safari. so it is best to go by the time the place opens so that the crowd can be avoided, else you may end up waiting for hours in que for the safari trip. Please do not miss the Butterfly Park here, as it is to one corner and can easily be missed but is a good place to visit
  • Butterfly park during right time (oct - feb) is a wonderful place to visit in bannergatta zoo. If you want to go for a safari then better to take jeep safari that too morning first ride (around 9AM) .
  • This is a must-see place in Bangalore! Don't miss the audio-video presentation. When I first visited the Butterfly Park at its opening, there were more than 100 species of butterflies. Now there are hardly a dozen visible species. Yes, the beauty of the place has also come down, no doubt. But I would still give it 5 stars, as I know how difficult it is to maintain the highly sensitive creature, whose life-span is also very less. One of my uncles who was a doctor (PhD), used to frequent the Himalayas to collect various Butterfly species, and he has a collection of over 3000 specimens for research work. He used to explain how difficult it is to have butterflies near you. It is said that a good presence of butterflies and dragonflies is an indicator of a healthy environment around us. If we don't get to see many butterflies, the blame is on us. It is an indication that we are not keeping our environment healthy, in turn, we're living in a polluted world. The butterflies are more in number during the seasons. It's not there all year round. The butterflies are bred in the nearby research station adjacent to the park. Public are not allowed there. So I've put few photos for the general public just to know about it. They are left in the nearby Forest area, and then re-captured when their numbers go very high. In turn, those butterflies are put back into the actual Butterfly Park. In season we get to see more than 500 butterflies of at least 50 species. The Butterfly undergoes various stages of growth through the Pupa stage, caterpillar stage, etc. The final matured state is when it grows out into a beautiful lady or man, giving it's attractive colours. Whether we get to see more butterflies is not the question, it is how well we treat the little that exist there. Usually we tend to kill the caterpillars that grow on trees near our homes. What I've shown in the picture is about a caterpillar feeding on curry leaves, which we normally grow domestically at homes. From now on, let's allow these beautiful creatures to grow, and not kill those ugly-looking creatures, which would one day delights our senses, gives pleasure to our children.... We need a healthy environment, we need a good population of butterflies, and other animals. Remember, the earth and its resources are not just for humans, but for every creature under the sky.
  • You can find here a very rare and nice types of butterflies. You can see their lifestyle from birth to death. You can see it sucking food from the flowers. Very different kinda feel
  • Only Safari is good. Zoo is horrible if you are animal lover. Hyderabad zoo is 100x better. Worst zoo and maintenance. Very few animals . No giraffe, zebra, fishes....
