Ana Sagar Lake, Ajmer

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
3/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
A 12th-century artificial lake spread over 13 km (8 mi), Ana Sagar Lake lies surrounded by cultural landmarks. You can explore the lake via boat and visit the island in its center, or just head out to the jetty to photograph the scenic beauty. In the vicinity, see pavilions built by Shah Jahan in 1637, a formerly British Circuit house on a nearby hill, and lush gardens. Some people consider this body of water holy, presumably because of the legend of Auliya Moinuddin Chishti, a Muslim saint who miraculously dried up the lake and afterwards restored it with a single cup. Due to lack of drainage maintenance, do not go for a swim. Put Ana Sagar Lake into our Ajmer vacation generator to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Ajmer.
