Mehtab Bagh, Agra

(850+ reviews on the web)
Nature / Park
Take a stroll around Mehtab Bagh, a Persian-style garden complex sitting directly opposite the Taj Mahal. Separated from the famous building by a river, the garden reflects the same idea that the spiritual resides in the symmetrical. This particular layout, called a charbagh, involves the division of the ground into four smaller parts with water features and walkways. The pleasant garden also offers a good view of the cultural wonder opposite, often with fewer people obstructing your photos than at the building's front. Put Mehtab Bagh into our Agra trip itinerary builder to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Agra.

  • Good place for late afternoon view of the Taj Mahal. However there is not much facilities provided for the 200 INR paid which I did not even get a receipt. This place is good for that special view which in my opinion is better than the normal view from the monument itself. For me due to this I would say pay only if you think it's worth it...to me I think since it's not that touristic the money goes into the officers pocket since no official ticket was issued even after asking for it.
  • Nice view of Taj Mahal across the river. The landscape and architecture have long lost its historic charm. Rearranged as a small grove and seating area near the river.
  • Beautiful view, dodgy area. Be careful of the people asking for money and also watch the guards as they are a bit scammy. Only visit for quick viewing of Taj Mahal.
  • This is the place where a hypothetical Black Taj mahal should have been built. The view of the Taj mahal from this other side of the river Yamuna is fabulous and worth waiting to see Taj during sunset time.
  • It's a garden. Less crowded. Perfect place to spent sometime/hangout with your friend. Nothing interesting here except view of The Taj Mahal from back side. Entry Fee Required.
