Myrdalsjokull Glacier, Vik

Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web
Experience the thrill and the beauty of Myrdalsjokull Glacier, one of Iceland’s foremost natural wonders. The peak of the glacier reaches 1,493 m (4,898 ft) and its thick ice covers the active Katla volcano. Unlike other glaciers that you can only admire from a distance, here you can get up close, and even step onto the ice and taste the frigid water. You'll be able to choose from a variety of tours ranging from snowmobile and Jeep rides, to dog sledding and ice climbing. Because of crevasses and quickly changing and extreme weather conditions, touring the glacier with an experienced guide is recommended. • The south shore adventure tour included viewing the Myrdalsjokull Glacier, a stunning view. Although we could not walk on the glacier, we saw it from close distance. A rare opportunity.
