Myrdalsjokull Glacier, Vik
Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Experience the thrill and the beauty of Myrdalsjokull Glacier, one of Iceland’s foremost natural wonders. The peak of the glacier reaches 1,493 m (4,898 ft) and its thick ice covers the active Katla volcano. Unlike other glaciers that you can only admire from a distance, here you can get up close, and even step onto the ice and taste the frigid water. You'll be able to choose from a variety of tours ranging from snowmobile and Jeep rides, to dog sledding and ice climbing. Because of crevasses and quickly changing and extreme weather conditions, touring the glacier with an experienced guide is recommended.
