  • First-rate museum with self guided tours. Offers a remarkable visual history of what happened to the island in 1974 as a result of the volcanic eruption.
  • Great interactive museum made us feel what the locals went thru at the time. Amazing heroism and hard work by the people on the island and other Icelandic people.
  • Even though I am not a big museum visitor, this one is very informative and engaging. The audio guides can be confusing, as they jump sometimes to the next area, otherwise really good
  • I'm not a big fan of museums and this museum did little to change my mind. the person who took my money was a bit abrupt. I agree with another reviewer on here that the audio guide jumps to the wrong area of the museum exhibits. the customer adjustable cameras on the centre piece, destroyed home exhibit are too grainy. One of the cinema screens wasn't even on.
  • Beautiful museum. Very well curated. Built over the ruins of a family's home that was destroyed by the volcano and unearthed in recent years.
