  • Who can, who can see here to discover fairies behind bushes, dancing Elves on the waters and the one or other troll sullen as he spot Lugt out from his cave. Who can't do that in this place, which should rather spend his holiday in Mallorca. I hope the mass tourism does not destroy such places, but the worst, I'm afraid!

  • This is a fantastic spot to get away from the tour buses. Gorgeous views 360. It's worth braving the rocky/gravel road in.
  • From the farm of Stong easy hike. Suddenly, in front of te.......si opens the canyon Gjain: a beautiful scenery with waterfalls, basalt columns, lush vegetation, various lava caves: a truly lovely place from which you would not want more come out. ... ...

  • At the edge of the Icelandic Highlands, you will find profoundly beautiful oasis all over the island. Still, if you ask the Icelanders which of them is the most beautiful, many of them will reply: Gjáin. Gjáin is a small valley and the innermost part of Þjórsárdalur. It is a joy to visit and a wonderful place to take the short but stunning hike through the valley.
  • This place is AMAZING! It was absolutely beautiful. There was one major issue. We did not have a 4x4 so we had quite the walk and the bugs were just awful. If you want to go I do recommend a 4x4. I don't mind hikes but the hike wasn't very pretty and a decent length makes it worth the drive.
  • Gjain could be the coolest place on earth. As many people have pointed out, it looks like fairies and elves live here and would have made a good set in one of the Lord of the Rings movies. Waterfalls, pools, lava rocks and it's all in a little valley. It's not easy to find but that's half the fun. Look for short stubby poles in the ground with an orange top.
  • So beautiful. Too bad about the tour busses and Game of Thrones buglers.
  • The waterfalls are simply amazing. I would highly rate this as one of the most beautiful falls I've ever seen, a true paradise that is well worth the drive & hike!
