Golden Circle Route, South Region
Categories: Scenic Drives, Outdoor Activities, Tourist Spots
Golden Circle Route links three of Iceland's most impressive natural wonders: Gullfoss, Pingvellir, and Haukadalur. Starting from Reykjavik, the popular tourist route takes you 300 km (186 mi) through central Iceland and back to the capital. Join a tour, or organize the adventure on your own. Marvel at the power of Gullfoss, or Golden Falls; brush up on Icelandic history and culture in Thingvellir (site of the former parliament); and catch the eruptions of active geysers in the geothermal valley of Haukadalur. If you have time, make extra stops at Kerio volcano crater, Hverageroi greenhouse village, and Skalholt church. The Golden Circle route makes a great day trip. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Golden Circle Route and many more Geysir attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Geysir vacation planner.
