One of the largest waterfalls in Iceland, Skogafoss sits along the cliffs of the country's former southern coastline. The coast has receded about 5 km (3.1 mi) toward the sea, so these falls now mark the boundary between the lowlands and the highlands. On sunny days, you can often see a single or double rainbow above the falls due to the huge volume of mist. If you don't mind getting wet, you can walk pretty close to the waterfall and even follow a rocky path behind the wall of water. Climb up to the top for a different view of the falls and the surrounding landscape. A visit to Skogafoss represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Skogar trip itinerary maker to plot your vacation.

We really enjoyed this stop - but we arrived when the parking lot was full and I wish we had gone before the tour buses. We did hike to the top, and saw a few people starting their much longer hike. I... read more »
Good place for taking photo. I didnt walk inside because of rain so not sure how stunning it is. Dont expect to spend very long time here.
This place will leave you wanting to come back. The entire area beckons you to free your imagination. Wear proper footwear and rain wear. Take a million pictures so you can relive your experience.
Absolutely stunning! The stairs to the top are quite the hike, but so worth it! The campground beneath is great, and so wonderful to wake up to such a gorgeous sight! Especially with a beautiful rainbow across it!
Really one of those things you have to see in person. Series of waterfalls blew me away. Mist and icy conditions kept us from taking the trail underneath, but even so, quite beautiful.
Really beautiful water fall "foss". Definitely worth stopping to check out, and there is a good climb to the top of it. Gave it 3 stars simply because I saw better falls in Iceland.
What a beautiful place to see the falls! Went there during Dec 2015. All I can say is, bring your crampons. Took us half an hour to walk a distance that can be covered I 3 mins because of slippery ice! Tip - Try taking picture of the fall with a person in the foreground to gain perspective on the size and angle of the waterfall.
This waterfall is a must see. Standing at the base you are in awe of how big it is. Definitely worth it to climb all the way to the top as well as it provides a different perspective and great photo opportunity.
