Where to stay in Reykjavik

In this highly walkable capital, many of Reykjavik's hotels and guesthouses offer close proximity to the city's popular attractions, bars, and restaurants. The waterfront offers an exciting dose of activity. Although Reykjavik provides plenty of accommodations to its flocks of visitors, there is a dearth of budget options in the city. Price-conscious visitors should consider staying in a hostel, with both private and dorm rooms available, or a nearby campsite. Although the campground is not as centrally located as some hotels, guests are better positioned to take advantage of the natural surroundings.

  • The Radhus (city hall) is not a must-see when in Reykjavik, but it offers a really nice overview over Iceland and Reykjavik today. Also the view over the lake is amazing.  more »
  • We visited the Reykjavik City Hall on Lake Tjörnin to pick up our city cards. The city card is a fantastic deal because it’s valid for free unlimited bus travel, one free ferry trip, free entry to a v...  more »

  • The building looks nothing modern from the outside, it looks like old building next to the big pond. But when you walked inside, it looks amazing next to the pond. The tourists information center is probably the biggest in Iceland, so much of information around.
  • Really nice facilities! The visitor centre is great, with free wifi and a cool 3D map of Iceland. Also has a great view of the lake
  • Lots of activities to do but very few places to eat I wasn't really amazed by what I got there
  • Great place to get some tourist information or see some exhibit. Also ducks.
  • Nice building, with the small lake next to it. Inside, there's a large 3D map of Iceland. It's interesting.
