Perlan, Reykjavik

(3.7/5 based on 3,000+ reviews on the web)
A city landmark, Perlan features an exhibit space, shops, restaurant, and viewing platform. The ground-floor exhibit area, called the winter garden, has hosted expos, markets, and concerts by Icelandic artists. On the fourth floor, browse the three shops, including a year-round Christmas shop with an emphasis on Icelandic artwork. Walk around the building on the wraparound viewing platform, which offers a 360-degree look at the city and surrounding area. If you wander up to the top floor, you'll find a cafeteria and revolving restaurant. While the food can by pricey, the restaurant provides a truly special view of Reykjavik as it rotates. By using our Reykjavik trip itinerary builder, you can arrange your visit to Perlan and other attractions in Reykjavik.

  • Nothing to see inside at present as there's extensive renovations taking place. Toilets and cafe still open however, as is the 360c walkway around the dome of the building. Fabulous views. Nice filter...  more »
  • The views are amazing and there is no charge for the public. There is a cute cafe as well. There is a lot of construction, so it appears they are adding exhibits. I thought there would be more to see ...  more »
  • The observation deck affords a beautiful view over Reykjavik. Otherwise, it is little to do, now is being reconstructed.

  • Delightful ambience, must visit when in Reykjavik as the building is located at the top of the hill. When dining at the revolving restaurant you'll be able to see the whole city, very beautiful especially at night. Had buffet dinner around Christmas time, lots of choices, around 10 on dessert alone. Don't expect super quality on food when you're having a buffet.
  • Great views of the city. If you have the time take it in. Other than the view not much there. We walked from downtown so very walkable.
  • A walk-up to Perla belongs in any typical Iceland trip, just to see the city lying below you and admire what Iceland does with geothermal power. Best visited on a sunny day with good visibility, preferably with lots of snow around. But, keep in mind, nothing else to do, really, but to look around.
  • A revolving restaurant atop a twinkling dome that beams light over Reykjavik..? Sounds hideous, but is actually a gem. In this most bizarre/touristy environment there were so many locals we presumed we'd arrived in the midst of a private function, but no - this place is patronised by Reykjavik's finest and after a long, leisurely dinner here I can absolutely appreciate why. Fantastic old school service and crisp, modern cooking where every ingredient shone through. A real treat. We'd considered that the revolving restaurant feature may help to keep our 5y/o daughter entertained, but it wasn't necessary - the wonderful food did that. Slightly pricey despite the endorsement (hence 4 stars), but we would revisit without hesitation.
  • Really interesting building. We got to take a bit of a tour around the inside. Nice venue for an event.
