  • Visit Reykjavik should enjoy a Austurvollur where there is a monument from 1910 the great Icelandic Patriot Jon Sigurdssona and Icelandic Parliament-Althingi. The origins of the General Assembly of Iceland dates back to the X century, when gathered in the Valley at Thingvellir.

  • What a beautiful building that should be open for public tours. Very disappointed that you can't see and learn more about this building and the history behind it.  more »
  • An interesting little piece of history and not too difficult to locate given that it is effectively in the centre of the town centre and in a most prominent position. There is a lot of history about h...  more »

  • Nice building on the outside with nearby square. Unfortunately we could not get a tour but it's worth emailing them to ask for a tour just before you go.
  • This is the parliament house and it is worth to take a look at. The building was built in the years 1880-1881. Before it became the parliament house it housed the national library and the national gallery for a short period of time. The house is a little small so next to it there is an additional building. There is one interesting thing about the front of the house, Iceland is an independent country but if you look at the front of house at the top you can see the danish crown and coat of arms.
  • Small and simple. Pretty park across the street. The park is more worth a visit then this spot but all of it looks good.
  • Without someone who explained a bit over this house its nothing special:/
  • Nice old building. Local tour guide seemed to like it
