Where to stay in Reykjavik

In this highly walkable capital, many of Reykjavik's hotels and guesthouses offer close proximity to the city's popular attractions, bars, and restaurants. The waterfront offers an exciting dose of activity. Although Reykjavik provides plenty of accommodations to its flocks of visitors, there is a dearth of budget options in the city. Price-conscious visitors should consider staying in a hostel, with both private and dorm rooms available, or a nearby campsite. Although the campground is not as centrally located as some hotels, guests are better positioned to take advantage of the natural surroundings.

  • This is perhaps the smallest parliament house I've ever seen. Very simple building with no sign. The garden at the back is quite nice though.  more »
  • The Parliament House is much smaller than I would have expected but is such an attractive building. The best part is the garden behind it.  more »
  • This is the parliament building that is of a good size and is a little plain in an architectural sense. Many walking tours come here and with a guide you will get some very interesting facts. Nice to ...  more »

  • A quick photo stop outside as you can't enter without prior appointment for tour. The park opposite is the gathering place for Icelandic people, it relaxing to walk around the small park.
  • Small and simple. Pretty park across the street. The park is more worth a visit then this spot but all of it looks good.
  • This is the parliament house and it is worth to take a look at. The building was built in the years 1880-1881. Before it became the parliament house it housed the national library and the national gallery for a short period of time. The house is a little small so next to it there is an additional building. There is one interesting thing about the front of the house, Iceland is an independent country but if you look at the front of house at the top you can see the danish crown and coat of arms.
  • Nice building on the outside with nearby square. Unfortunately we could not get a tour but it's worth emailing them to ask for a tour just before you go.
  • Without someone who explained a bit over this house its nothing special:/
