  • We could have spent a full day here. There was so much interesting information about the history of Iceland -- about which I had known next to nothing.

  • Spent a couple of hours. Lots of history and some interactive displays. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend for a cold rainy day.

  • An interesting and informative museum. It does not boast the greatest selection of artifacts but I'd you want to learn more about the Icelandic people then this is the place to go. The guided tours are not the greatest but the audio tour is very informative and detailed. Had a wonderful time here!
  • Great museum. Four stories of icelandic history with good interactive exhibits. No bags allowed. They have free lockers though.
  • An excellent introduction to Icelandic history and culture. The chronological layout provides a helpful structure, exhibits presented in engaging ways and the labelling is excellent, allowing the visitor to select the level of detail required. I learned so much but have also been inspired to learn more on my return home.
  • For all hoping to get free entrance on wednesday: this information is old and not valid any more. You have to pay on each open day, currently 1.500 ISK / adult. Jul 16
  • Museum does a great job at describing the vast history of Iceland. There are a lot of aspects I didn't realize occurred that I can now see affected the current culture. It is multiple floors and the exhibits are very interesting.
