An interesting and informative museum. It does not boast the greatest selection of artifacts but I'd you want to learn more about the Icelandic people then this is the place to go. The guided tours are not the greatest but the audio tour is very informative and detailed. Had a wonderful time here!
An excellent introduction to Icelandic history and culture. The chronological layout provides a helpful structure, exhibits presented in engaging ways and the labelling is excellent, allowing the visitor to select the level of detail required. I learned so much but have also been inspired to learn more on my return home.
Does a great job of giving a overview of all things iceland, very well laid out and is very interactive. Lockers and coat rack are provided in the basement. Hits on a lot of the Icelandic highlights ( vikings, fishing, culture through the years,...) was a lot better then the Maritime Museum.
Museum does a great job at describing the vast history of Iceland. There are a lot of aspects I didn't realize occurred that I can now see affected the current culture. It is multiple floors and the exhibits are very interesting.
The musuem is displayed in both Icelandic and English making it very easy to enjoy and I gained a lot of information about Iceland! We went to several museums while in Iceland, but this one was really the only one worth the money.
