Laugardalslaug, Reykjavik
(4.5/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Relax the way the Icelanders do, with a trip to a geothermal spa. Laugardalslaug features a series of outdoor pools of different temperatures, ranging from 36 to 44 C (97 to 111 F), as well as a larger pool for lane swimming. In addition to the pools, the park offers picnic and barbecue facilities, a soccer stadium, sports hall, botanical gardens, and a zoo. The gardens feature local trees, flowers and vegetables, and some tropical plants. Try the hot tub filled with heated salt water for a slightly different experience. Unwind in the steam and sauna rooms, or get some excitement racing down the waterslides. Popular with tourists and locals alike, a visit to the pools represents a very Icelandic experience. However, note that local ritual involves showering naked in public before swimming in the pool. Make Laugardalslaug part of your personalized Reykjavik itinerary using our Reykjavik vacation builder.

  • My wife and I had read several reviews on pools in Iceland and their attractions for the Icelanders. We had so much looking forward to experiment and we were not disappointed at all. The complex is large and very well maintained. Cleanliness is required and the bracelet and locker system is really great. Discomfort after ending up completely nude with SOAP the genitals in front of several people as well as a supervisor, you are close to you relax and have fun! An experience that is worth to be lived year round and the price is affordable.

  • By beginning of rainy and cool evening, we came try the pool to the Icelandic way! WOW! After the shock of the shower naked in front of everyone (IT is!), nothing more relaxing than their hot tubs and outdoor hot pools, fresh rain! The slide is great even for adults! Everything is perfect and typical, few tourists on the spot, but really a lot of Icelanders! In addition to the price, worth a visit! 25 minutes walk from our hotel, Fosshotel Raudara.

  • It's a different kind of pool from those in North America. Taking off shoes before entering the change room? Brilliant. Making you shower in the nude then putting a dry bathing suit on your wet body? ...  more »

  • This is an amazing public Swimming pool! They have several pools with different temperatures. Great place to relax. Really popular with locals. (Don't forget that, just like any other public swimming pool in Iceland, you will need to take a shower, completely naked, before going into the pool).
  • This bath is my favourite in Reykjavik. No frills, but great pools and a very authentic feel. Spending the early morning here is the best way ever to cope with jet lag when traveling from the US.
  • It has a lot of pools with different temperatures. The best is the one at 38 degrees. Good the idea of mini basketball hoops in the pool. It is fine but not a place you absolutely need to see in Reykjavik.
  • haha, this place is a blast. One of my favorite parts of the whole trip. Met a lot of real cool locals.
  • Amazing pool with a lot of hot tubs at different temperatures. they also have a great indoor pool. The water slide was a lot of fun. I strongly recommend this pool if you're visiting Reykjavik. It's also pretty cheap (around $9)
