Imagine Peace Tower, Reykjavik
Categories: Monuments, Tourist Spots
Imagine Peace Tower is a tall tower of light projected from a white stone monument, designed by artist Yoko Ono as a memorial to her late husband, John Lennon. It's also a reference to his peace anthem, "Imagine." Notice the words "imagine peace" in 24 languages carved into the monument. The column of light emerges vertically into the sky from a 10 m (33 ft) wide wishing well. One million written wishes, which Ono gathered over the years in another project, are buried underneath the tower. The intensity of the light changes depending on the weather conditions. Take a guided tour to learn more about the couple's continuing campaign for world peace, which began in the 1960s. We happened to be travelling here when Yoko Ono lit the Imagine Peace Tower on what would have been John Lennon's 75th birthday - very special.

It is an interesting concept to see and would surly be a great sight when it is light up, but when I saw it, it could be mistaken for a water tank

Pretty nice in the winter time when the light is on, but be careful, chose the correct time to go, it is not nice when it is windy.

The trip to Videy Island was windy and you need to be very careful on picking a ferry schedule to Videy Island because it could be dangerous if you planning to go there in midnight. The water level was quite high and our boat almost sunk. Videy Island could be beautiful at daylight, but it's quite awful on night to midnight. Glad the Imagine Peace Tower was lit by the management because it was Ono-Lennon's wedding anniversary.
