Create an itinerary including Grotta Lighthouse
Grotta Lighthouse is a popular recreational area and bird sanctuary, and a good spot for catching the northern lights. It also offers views over parts of the city and the whole bay. Cross a small, sandy bank to get to the lighthouse, but beware of the rising tide. If you come by car, you can wait for the aurora borealis in the little parking lot. On clear nights, the show may go on for hours, but you have to be patient waiting for it to start. The tourist-friendly facilities include restrooms and a bar. • A site which is on the way. But did not climb up. The settings was. Ice but was rushing to make the best out of the beautiful day ahead.

  • Rented a bicycle near the old harbour. They gave a good explanation of the route, so I reached the ligthouse easily. Very impressing place: Black beach an white tower.

  • Lovely place to visit, unfortunately there were 70mph wind gusts and horizontal snow and hail when we were here!! Great fun 😁
  • Unfortunately we weren’t able to walk down to the lighthouse as the area is closed May through July because it is a nesting habitat. The views are beautiful on a clear day and there is a delicious restaurant nearby.
  • Sadly I didn't see the actual lighthouse due to a sudden sea mist, but a nice walk on the nearby beach area. Very quite and peaceful.
  • Its amazing! Please turn off the car light when you watch the aurora ;)
  • You can also walk to the lighthouse if the tide is allowing it. Nice place to take a walk.
