  • The cause of education psevdokraterov are considered steam explosions that occurred during the eruption of the local volcanoes. They occurred, when the lava flow covered the Earth's surface and block water tanks that are close to the surface. As a result, in such "traps" a large amount of steam generated rapidly, the process was accompanied by a local pressure — there was a steam explosion. As a result it and formed Bowl-shaped depression, so much resembling the form of a crater of this volcano. That is, in simple terms, these education essentially broken bubbles! With this in mind, the size of the bubbles is impressive, certainly better appreciate the span with kvadrakoptera, but your legs take on takiim beautiful places in Nice. Our hotel was located just across the road, making a walk is accessible at any time. At the entrance there is parking across the street at hotels and restaurants, where you can grab a bite after a walk.

  • Located at the southern end of Lake Myvatn, the Skutustadagigar is a collection of pseudo volcanic craters that one can easily explore on foot in about 45 minutes. On a clear day, it’s possible to see...  more »
  • Located to the North of Iceland, in the region of Lake Myvatn, has several interesting rock formations, small caves, too. You can go without guides, since without blizzards and a good gps.

  • The pseudo craters are nice, but they are better from afar then walking around them and looking in the crater does not as much. Also a lot of midges. Better to take your pictures from a short way in the path. We skipped the bird walk due to the midges.
  • Good place to visit and walk around the lake and admiring the pseudo craters. Big parking lot at entrance. We had the whole place to ourselves, but It was raining cats and dogs when we were there, we only managed to stay for quick photo stop. That said, the place is really beautiful and peaceful.
  • Yet another of the many reasons why the southern side of the lake is a better course than sticking with the Ring Road: these little pseudo-craters are fun to hike around. Great photo ops & views over the lake, and the information signs offer fascinating insight into their formation.
  • Kind of boring compared to the other attractions in the close vicinity. The hike is good for children or elderly. Once you've seen one of these craters, you've seen them all. Neat concept but nothing that really demands your time.
  • Interesting micro-craters, and the explanation on how they are formed will captivate the science-minded. Nothing too exciting if you've seen other craters in Iceland, however, and while there is bird-life, it wasn't very diverse while we were there.
