  • I wasn't sure about this museum until I stepped inside. What an impressive collection of specimens. Everything was labeled and the museum was very well done. It is worth a quick 30 minute stop.  more »
  • There are little things to do around Lake Myvatn, except fly Pattering rain on the windshield, this small museum was the highlight. The many beautiful birds are beautifully presented. Much information gibts unfortunately not how... to have size, weight, food, genus, detection, it quickly seen. The collection is a random mix of domestic and foreign birds. Since the gyrfalcon and the sea eagles can be seen, I (my wife of less) would go again.

  • A museum dedicated to a bird lover, the layout and architecture is modern, and the cafe serves good food. We enjoyed learning more about the birds we have seen in Iceland and whether they inhabit the ...  more »

  • My husband and I visited in September 2017. It was a fantastic experience that gave us a whole new (let's be honest, completely new) appreciation for birds. We planned to stop just for a few minutes, but ended up staying well over an hour. The displays are beautifully curated, and it's easy to imagine the avians in their habitat. The building is spectacular and tranquil, too. We were greeted by a very friendly woman who helped us feel so welcome and was happy to answer any question with enthusiasm.
  • Nice small museum with many stuffed birds. There's also a 60x telescope for bird watching and a second part of the museum, dedicated to an old boat, which used to be the main transport on the lake for many years. The road to the museum is not on Google Maps, but it's there, a bit to the north.
  • Totally skippable. After you pay to go inside, all you will find is a collection of taxidermied birds. The same birds you can find alive, outside, for free. Plus they laid out the museum floor in a way that requires a safety briefing so you don't plunge into the water feature in the floor.
  • amazing collection of stuffed birds. All with some basic information about where found and time of year information in several languages. Also amazing egg collection. Boat house is in a separate building. Also food options. Probably should be listed as resteraunt also.
  • Great collection and we got a chance to feed the ducklings!
