Hike through volcanic landscapes filled with lava fields, glaciers, natural hot springs, black arctic deserts, and forested valleys on Laugavegur, Iceland's most famous trail. The trail, described by National Geographic as one of the world's most beautiful treks, connects a hot-springs area and a glacial valley. While walking through lava fields, watch for the colorful rhyolite mountains. You typically can complete the 55 km (34 mi) route over two to four days. You will need to make stops at rustic mountain huts or campgrounds along the way. The hike can be challenging if you are carrying your food and camping gear with you. A visit to Laugavegur represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Landmannalaugar vacation builder to plot your vacation.
