  • Great stop if you have extra time to veer in a different direction from all of the other main attractions. The drive has very nice views along the way, like: a lake, mountain ranges and black sand shores... The site itself has a nice hiking path and your stay can be a quick 15 min or as long as a couple of hours... easy to get there from Reykjavik.
  • Power of nature! Nothing much there than foul smelling sulphur gases and bubbling water / mud. It's a long way to go unless you are passing by. No toilet facility either. Surrounding landscape is rugged and nice to see.
  • Beautiful otherworldly location, the landscape is something else. Tainted by the sulfur there are intense oranges, whites and auburn colors make this a really beautiful photography location. Just be prepared to put up with a strong sulfur smell!
  • Beautiful place to visit for about 30', the colors of the rocks and soil are undescribable, fascinating! Very easily accessible wooden path that goes around the area, right next to the parking lot.
  • Perfect for a driving break.
