Fjaðrárgljúfur is a canyon in south east Iceland which is up to 100 m deep and about 2 kilometres long, with the Fjaðrá river flowing through it. It is located near the Ring Road, not far from the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur.The canyon was created by progressive erosion by flowing water from glaciers through the rocks and palagonite over millennia.

  • Narrow chasm curve that extends vertically rocks are covered with MOSS, so where is this valley is kircubai..., I can't remember the name now... and I think its beautiful scenery combine beauty with a magical atmosphere, Iceland's leading tourist attractions. In the side streets from the ring road, traversing the narrow streets winding and right on this road? And became kinda worried, but arrived safely, go and stopped for a value is sufficient. Strongly I visited was in fact last September, but still their beauty suddenly to float and I want to go again.

  • Well worth the visit . Other people on here have submitted much better photos than I managed to take. It's certainly photogenic. Part of the track was quite muddy and slippery when I visited
