  • From the road you start with a stiff climb, then a lot more false follows what is flat. Pretty soon you'll see the litlanesfoss which I between the worn down rocks very liked. After a short walk you can see the Hengifoss. Which is a lot bigger than the Litlanesfoss, he is also nice, but his sister won it for me! The walk itself is fun. You have beautiful views and if you occasionally to the ground look you see also special stones (straight cut off for example)

  • in the middle of a beautiful landscape, the magnificent waterfalls: one between the basaltic columns, over 100 m that fall between Brown and red horizontal stripes. They deserve... With a good hike to an hour and a half

  • You should go by the highway 931 until almost the end of the Lake. After about 22 km. cross the river of Lagarfljot Lake and access to the parking lot of the Hengifoss waterfall. It is the second highest waterfall in Iceland. The water plunges 118 meters by a beautiful gorge of rocks of Brown and reddish tones. Walking to the waterfall tour is 2,5 km. of ida and the same back, which is a drive of about 2 hours. From the parking lot leaves a long staircase that leads up to the Hill. On this tour right away you can see Hengifoss far. The ascent is steep at the beginning, but softens when you reach the Canyon. Halfway we observed the smaller waterfall of Litlanesfoss, surrounded by vertical columns.

  • Gorgeous waterfall with a decent hike that makes the reward even sweeter. Parking area has a toilet and all 🙌
  • The 40 to 60 minutes walk and the 400 meter elevation is an excellent hike and gives the waterfall an extra flavour. In addition you pass Litlanesfoss on your way up which is a beautiful basalt column waterfall. I you are traveling in the East Region in Iceland don´t miss this waterfall.
  • A good ~45min hike to get to the top, but you also see Litlanesfoss waterfall about half-way, which serves as a nice rest stop and is worth the hike on its own.
  • Very impressive and roaring waterfall, you can hike almost to the base of it, jumping on stones for the final part. The hike there is worth it by itself.
  • Took us 2 hours to go up and down, and take some pictures. A long walk but with beautiful view, cliff on one side, soooo many flowers (and sheep) on the other. For geometric fans, you can spot column rocks and red layers formed by volcanic ash.
