  • You can get there easily by car after a brief stop at the visitor center for technical break. Rocks and greenery surround the place. They seem defensive walls ... we took a short walk to the Lake that appears on the bottom of the canyon and the bridge that you see from under the Lake. Very nice! There is green and peace. They felt only the ducks that they washed in the Lake. If you are around, deserves stop by.

  • After sizable scale falls dead into the water unto ball moss grows carvings around the cliff together is the fantastic scenery. There are lots of unusual for Iceland, tall trees and under the basin where ponds are crafted Japan garden-like atmosphere.

  • You can see how spectacular views cannot be indescribably said. I felt the Earth was disappointing because the weather was cloudy, but still sufficiently healed and cannot be made to human greatness. On a sunny day you want to go again! But Iceland is far away (tears)

  • This place was detailed on a recent NOVA episode on PBS - they now think the canyon may have been the result of a catastrophic flood from an ice damn breaking somewhere up river (probably the result of a volcanic eruption). It is a really awe inspiring place - off the beaten path, not too crowded, and beautiful. There are great campgrounds here, a nice visitor center, and long hiking trails that go from the canyon floor to the rim for amazing viewpoints. For those that have a hard time getting around there is a road all the way into the canyon with paved walkways leading to viewing areas. Well worth the stop if you're even in the area!
  • Beautiful canyon with paths through the trees. Quick trail down to the pond. This was my wife's favorite sight of our trip.
  • You can drive through amd appreciate the view without leaving the car, if you'd like.
  • Great camping grounds and I understand that water is scarce up there, but 500 ISK per shower is steep. Even for Iceland.
  • Stunning nature and perfect for a relaxing holiday or a hiking trip!

Where to stay in Husavik

The many visitors that flock to Husavik can choose from a wide range of accommodation options. Hotels and guesthouses tend to be located near the harbor, providing picturesque views and proximity to much of the city's activity. Cottages and campgrounds lie in the outskirts and are often more economical, particularly for large groups or those planning a lengthy stay. These more rural lodgings also have the advantage of being just a stone’s throw away from hiking paths and other outdoor adventures.
